CON-IMPEX in Cuba
The changes initiated in Cuba as a reaction to the deep economic crisis in the nineties of the past century mark the beginning of a long-term turn of the Cuban economic policy and a change towards market principles in some special fields of Cuba's national economy. CON-IMPEX had been observing this development and decided to open up a representative office in Havana in 1995.
However, CON-IMPEX was active in Cuba already in the years before (from 1991 to 1993 as BEX-Consulting, together with the Spanish foreign trade bank BEX). The extraordinary reputation which has been enjoying the founder and senior executive of CON-IMPEX HGmbH was one reason for a rapid and uncomplicated permission given by the Cuban authorities. This standing was achieved by numerous personal contacts and successful business activities during the past 35 years.
Since 1995 with experience and logistics grown, we have gained the best adaptability possible to the Cuban mentality, customs, and traditions. Thus, CON-IMPEX has profound knowledge of the industry and economy, administration and banking, of the decision makers and structures. Six employees in our representative office in the Miramar Trade Center headed by Frank-Peter Apel, first son of the CON-IMPEX founder, ensure the numerous direct contacts with the Cuban customers - the very basis of successfully doing business.
Thanks to our presence on the Cuban market and our good cooperation with companies and authorities of the Cuban tourist sector, we have successfully established a subsidiary, CON-IMPEX Touristik GmbH & Co. KG, whose main business is investment in the Cuban tourism industry and the operation of a yacht charter base in Cienfuegos.
